Repotted phragmipedium

Bark mix is a preferrable potting medium for my phrag, according to various internet sources, reader comment and orchid board discussions. So Shultz orchid mix it is. Soaked for a day. Clear plastic pot.
Here is newly potted Phragmipedium pearcei:



Still worried about roots not being green when wet...

  1. Phrag roots don't get green when they're wet because they're terrestrial in nature. When other orchid roots turn green it's because the velamen reveals the photosynthetic pigments when wet (most epiphytic orchids do at least some amount of photosynthesis in their roots) Since terrestrial roots have no access to the sun they have no pigments and do not turn green when wet. A firm brown root is exactly what you should see.
