Laelia tenebrosa II problem

The brownish patch on the pseudobulb of my newly purchased Laelia tenebrosa II appeared to be spreading. At least I noticed some slight increase of its area.
Of course I freaked out and cut off the whole pseudobulb sprinkling some cinnamon powder on the cut:



Now there is still some dark spot on the lower part of older pseudobulb (behind the cut on the picture above) and darkish spots on the protective sheath of the newest pseudobulb:



With my limited experience with cattleyas I am very close to throwing away the whole plant.

Is there any reason I shouldn't?
