Paphiopedilum Deperle

Paph. Deperle still has two blooms holding. I checked the records - it started blooming at the end of November, so 3 months in bloom - not too bad for paphiopedilum.
Yesterday watering it I discovered totally new growth coming out from the bush:

I am pretty happy with this purchase, most of my paphs are usually sulking along...

Paphiopedilum Deperle in full bloom

I am impressed by my Paph. Deperle. The very first bloom is still on and it continued to open next buds. Now there are three flowers on:

And one more small bud still growing.
Even though the shape of the blooms is not perfect - I still like them.

Paph. Deperle bloom

I was sort of busy lately and totally forgot about the Paph. Deperle bud watch. Well, it is too late now because it just flowered:

It is amazing how the cross of two species with colorful blooms could result in such a pristine white flower.

Here is the whole plant:

Bud watch: Paphiopedilum Deperle 'Philippe'

I haven't had paphiopedilum bud watch for a while. The longest bud I waited for was Paph. malipoense, it took around 6 months from spike start to bloom.
Let's see how long this one will take.

I should probably mention that I get absolutely no credit for getting this plant to bloom. It was purchased with spike already started...

New purchases

Here is what I got today at Eastern Canada Orchid Show:

Vanda coerulea. I already have one, but this one was so large and with two spikes so I could actually see the flowers and be sure that it is in fact the species, so I couldn't pass. The flowers are almost finished, but just to get an idea of how nice it is:

Two paphs. Paphiopedilum Deperle 'Philippe'(left) and Paph. Magic Lantern(right). Phil is growing a bud.
