Phal. amboinensis var.common

And one more phal decided to surprise me with a spike.



After successful recovery from total root loss - Phalaenopsis amboinensis var. common has now decided to bloom. The plant is still small and I would actually prefer it if it just grew some more roots and leaves to gain more strength, but as always, plants know better what to do.



The spike is very small and will take months to develop, but it is a good start.
I now have many plants growing new spikes, some are totally unexpected, but there are also two plants that I actually do expect to spike, keep checking them every day, but - nada.
They are: larger javanica and bellina ('Ingrid Ohh' x 'Joy' AM/AOS). Both look healthy and strong enough to bloom, but it seems they are testing my patience in a very brutal way.

Dtps. Liu's Cute Angel update

Liu's Cute Angel is a perfect name for this little phal.

It has the cutest leaves:



Cutest healthy roots randomly poking out from the net pot in several places:



And a cutest spike which now definitely looks like a spike. I like how fat and sturdy it seems, it doesn't flop down but grows up, although pretty slow to my taste:

Yellow leaves on both javanicas

Here is what is going on:



Being an optimist I am hoping it is just normal aging process, but still it is strange that the smaller one has two yellowing leaves at once. Usually they are shedded one by one.
Need to keep an eye on them...

These two stubborn little things refuse to spike despite all the spa treatment they get now in the tank.

Phal. Lyndon Equator Jewel

Here is one more nice surprise. I took out my Phal. Lyndon Equator Jewel to water today and discovered not one but two new spike starts:



It finished the previous blooming by last September and shedded old spikes. Now it is growing several new roots, a new leaf and two spikes. What a performer!

Orchid tank 2 is ready

Whole week every evening I was busy building my second orchid tank. Here is the result:




It came with glass shelves about half way up, so I decided to keep them and have vandas there, closer to the lights. Bottom part has two sets of levels. I wanted to keep the middle untouched, just in case I ever get really tall plant:



This tank is much larger than the previous and has enough space to fit all the rest of my orchids that didn't get into first one, with some room to spare.
