Pictures from park

It was a nice evening yesterday, finally it is getting warm as if it is really a spring. We went to park after dinner and here is what we saw
Squirrels changed their coats and look bright and new:

Big white birds are everywhere:

Geese had their babies and you really have to watch where you step. Sort of hard to photograph because they are constantly moving.

Closup cuties:

Lots of ducks in the water, but none with babies yet:

Phalaenopsis javanica

I wanted this species for a while and it was in the most wanted list. I was searching for it through all the canadian vendors and non-canadian that are visiting our shows. The only vendor that had Phalaenopsis javanica - was Ten Shin Gardens. I bought two of them just in case - they look so small and fragile, but should be big enough to bloom.

Masdevallia Prince Charming

I pre-ordered Masd. Prince Charming from Ecuagenera. When picking it up from the show in March I was disappointed with the look of the foliage. It had ugly purple and yellow patches all over:

I wanted to just leave it and walk away, but representative said that it is a good strong plant and patches are from the sun exposure. He also said that if masdie dies, he will bring me the new one to the next show for free, so I took it.
I think he was right. Plant had nice roots and now produced two new growth:

I still don't like those yellow and purple patches on the leaves, but at least the new growth should be nice and green.

Phalaenopsis schilleriana

Mottled foliage and pretty pink blooms. My phal. schilleriana is supposed to be a blooming sized. I saw a lot of pictures of them mounted, but decided to just pot it up as most of my phals into clay pot with sphagnum. Hope it will be ok.

Tulips season in Ottawa

It is just starting, so there is not much of variety yet, just the early ones. Next weekend should be more. Traditional red:

Yellow fluffy ones remind me the peony:

Dark red with frilled edges are just starting to open, there are more buds than actual blooms:
