Bl. Morning Glory

Bl. Morning Glory = B.nodosa x L.purpurata. It came as a seedling from Clouds in fall 2011.
The very first flower opened today:

Looking at the many pictures on the web I was expecting white petals with pink lip, but mine came up all pink. I figure, since there are many varieties of L.purpurata, maybe my Glory was created with pink L.purpurata.

I didn't detect any fragrance yet, but I think it only appears at certain time of the day...

An awesome bloom coming soon

The bud on Bl. Morning Glory has grown a lot and became dark pink.
I think it is about ready to open:

I wonder how long until the flower opens up. Really can't wait...

Bl. Morning Glory

In my previous post about Bl.Morning Glory in March I mentioned that it is probably very close to become a blooming sized plant. Well, I was totally right, because one of the two newest pseudobulbs produced this:

From my very small experience with catts in general, I know it is a bud growing:

It looks very similar to the claw looking bud of B. Little Stars (long gone by now) and I am very curious about the flower. Whatever I saw on the web, looked pretty awsome...

Bl. Morning Glory

I think my Bl. Morning Glory is probably approaching blooming size:

New pseudobulbs come out fat and start to develop white papery stuff inside. It resides now in the orchid tank very close to the lights.
I like plants habit to grow upright, it doesn't take that much of horizontal space. Recently I noticed two more new pseudobulbs started in there:

I am hoping these two will bloom when mature.

Bl. Morning Glory

I posted about Bl. Morning Glory exactly one year ago - in November 2011, when it just arrived from Clouds as a seedling.

Since then it grew many new pseudobulbs and roots.
Somewhere down the road I moved it to a larger pot.
Here it is now:

Recently I noticed that some bulbs started to grow something papery-white from inside the leaf:

I am guessing that's where the flowers might eventually come out from.
Am I right?

Bl. Morning Glory

Cross between Brassavola nodosa and Laelia purpurata, Bl. Morning Glory supposed to have showy white flowers with purple lip. Mine came from Clouds, still a seedling, and is working mostly on growing new roots:
