Phalaenopsis Vio Vio another bloom

Repotting from moss to bark didn't affect the bud on Vio Vio and it opened just fine:

I really like this cross, the fragrance fills the tank, plant grows nicely and soon will become a nice specimen.

Here it is together with the Phal. Bashi Blackspot, flowers have similar shape but notice the difference in size. Both are nicely fragrant:

Phalaenopsis Vio Vio repotted

Phalaenopsis Vio Vio grew into large plant with lots of roots and was uncomfortably hanging over the edge of its clay pot. The roots were going up and on the sides from the pot and I was trying really hard to keep them from breaking every watering. Finally I decided to move it to a larger pot.
Unpotted:

Moved to a 5 inch clear plastic pot with slits:

I used Shultz bark mix - the only bark option we have here. It is fine but needs to be washed through to remove all the dirt out.
I wonder if the bud will drop after all these manipulations...

Phal. Vio Vio bloom and concern

The first bud on Vio Vio opened all right:

But notice: the second bud is yellowing and will die soon:

This happens to the second phal in my tank for the past couple weeks - the Bashi Blackspot was the first one. Why would that be - too hot? too humid? did I let the medium dry too much?
Any thoughts?

Phal. Vio Vio

Here is yet another preview with a great looking bud:

Phal. Vio Vio bloomed last summer for over three months growing new buds on the same spike.
This will be the second blooming for me. Really like this cross.

Yet one more new spike

Here is Phalaenopsis Vio Vio that is growing into a quite large plant now:

And here is what's going on from the back:

I am not sure what is it going to do with all those roots, but am pretty sure that the top left growth is a new spike.
This hybrid has wonderfully fragrant and large flowers.
Can't wait for blooms...

Phalaenopsis Vio Vio

After blooming for pretty long time Phal. Vio Vio shedded its spike and took a break.
Now it looks like the break is over - it started to grow a new leaf:

New roots are coming along too (I find it very funny when they start coming out of pot):

Vio Vio is one of my favorite hybrids, I hope it will grow new spike for me soon.

Blooming continues

I am amused by the phals that span their blooming time for several months producing sequential buds on the same spikes.
Here is Phalaenopsis Vio Vio. I checked my log - it opened first bloom back in June. Since then - it always has a flower on. When one wilts - new bud is just ready to open. It is on fourth bloom now and fifth bud is growing:

I also like how heavy textured the flower is and of course the fragrance.

Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi 'red' stays in bloom since beginning of May. At first it had one flower on each spike at the time. Now it is producing clusters of blooms. I wonder if it is something that all cornu-cervis do, or I just got lucky with this particular plant:

It is also somewhow hard to photograph as a whole plant. Picture always comes out either blurry or wrongly focused or with too much shine.

Equalacea coerulea actually just started blooming recently, it now has two blooms opened and third bud growing. I like how crisp and delicate the flowers are:

The whole plant is extremely cute:

My blooming phals

I took my blooming phals outside to make a group picture yesterday. Here they are - Phal. Vio Vio, Lyndon Equator Jewel, Brother Gelblienosa and bellina II.

Phalaenopsis Vio Vio already totally lost first bloom, second bloom is wilted on the picture and there actually another bud is growing under the third flower.
It is amazing how long the blooms last on the Phal. Lyndon Equator Jewel.

Too bad they loose the color with age and older flowers look like there were bleached.

My favorite of all four of them is Phal. bellina II. It is fully opened now and smells incredible:

Blooms update

I was out of country for a while and that's the reason for no posts. Meanwhile my phals continued blooming and here are the results.

Phal Buena Jewel x equestris alba has many flowers now and I noticed that blooms fade with age. Pretty pink blush around the white middle almost disappears on older flowers and lip color washes away:

They are still pretty and as a bonus - I discovered slight fragrance during sunny part of the day.

Phal. Vio Vio is working on a third bud. The flowers don't fade.

It has very pleasant fragrance.

Phal Vio Vio = Phal Jungo Viotris x Phal violacea.

Phalaenopsis Vio Vio

I can clearly see the color on the bud, it is purplish:

It is almost ready to open:

Obviously I can't wait:

Buds update and why they don't blast

I am very happy with my budding phals. Their progress is so obvious and buds still didn't drop (it usually happens to the most of my phals).
This is the Phal Vio Vio, it is now clear that there should definitely be two blooms:

Spike on the cross of Buena Jewel and equestris alba grew more and it now looks like I will have not one but three!!! flowers (if everything goes well, of course):

All of this is very unusual for me because normally the buds on my phals would grow to some degree and then wilt and drop (happened on fasciata 'Shaffers' and speciosa C1). Well, the reason of all the buds misfortunes was a low humidity. I mean it seems to be fine for noIds but fancy named ones like it more humid.
Recently I bought a flask of phal babies and was looking to buy the humidity trays for deflasking times. When I bought some - I realized that they are large enough to fit mature plants too. Needless to say, I went and bought some more and now my phals seem happy. The trays have see-through domes with ventilation holes that can be opened and closed. With opened holes they keep steady 80% humidity.

Here is how they look:

And with dome on:

Now our house is overfloated with those little orchid houses and I need to water them not as often as before.

Phalaenopsis Vio Vio

Phal. Vio Vio is cross of violacea and Jungo Viotris, so there is a lot of violacea in this plant. I got it recently from Kingfisher Orchids and there was small spike started. I was pretty sure it is going to stall, but it did not. The spike grew a bit and now is developing couple buds.

The flowers are supposed to be very fragrant. And there is a new leaf growing too!
